CGPA Calculator by Semester GPA and Credit Hours

This cumulative GPA calculator is designed for students who already know each semester GPA or SGPA and want to combine those terms into an overall CGPA. Enter the GPA and credit hours for every completed semester. The calculator multiplies each semester GPA by its credits, adds those quality points and divides by the total completed credits.

This credit-weighted method matters whenever semester loads differ. Simply adding semester GPAs and dividing by the number of semesters can produce a different answer because a 21-credit term should influence the cumulative result more than a 9-credit term. The tool displays both values so the difference is visible rather than hidden.

Completed CGPA and Future CGPA Projection

Every semester row has a status. Completed rows build the current CGPA estimate. Planned rows are added only to the projected CGPA. Excluded rows remain visible for an audit trail but do not affect either result. This prevents a future assumption or transfer term from silently changing the completed academic record.

Use Planned status for upcoming semesters, expected results or what-if cases. Use Excluded only when an official rule says that term does not count, such as certain transfer, exchange, audit or non-credit records. The calculator cannot decide institutional policy and therefore keeps the choice explicit.

Target CGPA Calculator and Required Future GPA

The target planner answers a common student question: what average GPA is needed over the remaining credits to reach a chosen cumulative target? It uses completed quality points, completed credits, the target CGPA and future credits. The result is compared with a user-selected maximum future GPA so an impossible target is identified early.

Alternative credit scenarios show how the required future average changes when more or fewer credits remain. The tool also estimates how many credits at the selected maximum GPA may be needed when the target is above the current CGPA. These values are planning aids, not promises about course availability or academic policy.

Update Current CGPA After One New Semester

Students who already have an official cumulative GPA do not need to re-enter every previous semester. The one-semester update combines the current official CGPA and completed credits with the new semester GPA and new semester credits. It then shows the updated cumulative result and the amount of increase or decrease.

This quick workflow is especially useful immediately after a result is released. Use the completed credit total associated with the current official CGPA; using attempted, registered or non-counted credits can change the estimate.

CGPA on 4.0, 5.0, 10.0 and Custom Scales

The module supports common maximum scales of 4.0, 5.0 and 10.0 plus a custom maximum. All semester GPAs in one cumulative calculation should use the same official scale. A proportional scale estimate can help with rough comparison, but it is not an official credential conversion.

Percentage conversion is particularly policy-sensitive. Some institutions publish a table, some use a formula with an offset, some use different formulas for different programs and some do not permit direct conversion. The calculator therefore displays the chosen formula and labels the output as an estimate.

Academic Standing, Scholarships and Graduation Planning

Minimum CGPA, good standing, scholarship eligibility, dean's list, honours and graduation thresholds differ by university, program and degree level. Rather than hard-coding a universal claim, this tool lets the user enter three planning markers and label the policy being modelled.

Always compare these markers with the latest official handbook, student portal, scholarship notice or admissions requirement. A calculator can evaluate the arithmetic, but it cannot verify whether repeated courses, withdrawals, transfer credits, thesis grades or rounding are treated the same way by every institution.

CGPA vs GPA: What Is the Difference?

The CGPA Calculator intentionally works at semester-summary level. It is best when each semester GPA is already available on a result card, transcript or university portal.
