What Is an Image Resizer Online?

An image resizer online changes the pixel width and height of a photo, screenshot or graphic. This tool reads one local image, places it on a canvas at the requested dimensions and downloads the result as a PNG.

Changing dimensions is useful when a form, website, presentation or profile requires a specific pixel size. It is different from reducing file size alone.

Resize by Pixels with Aspect Ratio Control

The width and height fields show the source dimensions after the image loads. Keep the lock enabled and edit either field to calculate a proportional second dimension automatically.

Disable the lock only when the destination requires independent width and height. That forces the whole image into a new shape and may distort circles, faces, logos or text.

Reducing and Enlarging Image Dimensions

The resized file is exported as PNG. A transparent source can retain transparent pixels through the canvas-to-PNG workflow where the browser decodes them correctly.

The new file is rendered from pixels and does not copy the source EXIF record. This module does not preserve the original JPG or WebP encoding, embedded camera information or animated frames.

Pixel Dimensions, DPI and Print Size

Pixels describe the actual raster dimensions. DPI or PPI describes how pixels may be mapped to physical size for print. A 1,200 by 1,200 pixel image can be printed at different physical sizes by different applications.

This tool changes width and height in pixels only. For printing, confirm the required pixels, physical dimensions and resolution with the printer or document specification.
